I am a strong advocate of Synology technologies, valued for their versatility across form factors and their ease of scaling. They enable license-free backups of on-premises systems and of cloud services such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, offsite and cloud backups through affordable C2 Storage, and easy remote access via QuickConnect. They also host virtual machines and Docker containers, back up computers and hypervisors in detail, and offer simple storage expansion and data resilience with RAID.

Synology's capabilities extend to Active Directory-integrated file servers, hardware-free OpenVPN servers and proactive backup monitoring with alerting. With SFP+ connectivity delivering excellent throughput, Synology NAS have become a cornerstone of most of my infrastructures: a robust safety net that perfectly complements dedicated Windows or RHEL servers.
