Over a decade of OVHcloud: hosted VMware private clouds, a partnership with Shadow, and object storage for backups and archiving.

Experience with OVHcloud services

I have been using OVHcloud services for over a decade and remain convinced by their offering. Most of my clients' websites and email systems, including the site you are reading, are hosted at OVHcloud. I have worked extensively with services such as NSX-V and now NSX-T to build fully cloud-based infrastructures on VMware ESXi in OVHcloud data centers, an invaluable asset for business continuity and disaster recovery planning (BCP/DRP). I have also set up numerous private clouds for hosting, storage and backup. While I have some reservations about their QEMU implementation for ISO management on VPS and dedicated servers, the overall reliability of these platforms has been impressive.

Partnership with Shadow

In early 2024, I set up a partnership with Shadow, a high-performance cloud computing solution. It has proven particularly valuable for clients in architecture, research, simulation and rendering, who can work on lightweight laptops while accessing powerful computing resources in the cloud.

Object storage solutions

I have also integrated object storage (buckets) from OVHcloud, Google Cloud and AWS into my projects for archiving and long-term retention. These scalable, highly available and secure services are critical for compliance, disaster recovery and cost-effective management of rarely accessed data. They let me store backups, archives and project files with easy access and redundancy across platforms, and tailor the storage strategy to each client, from high-availability requirements to low-cost long-term archiving.
